Week 1 : Video Footage

I collected some footage throughout the week and also compiled some videos I have on my phone from the past. I tried to group them into categories as follows:

night lights: scenes from night life lighting effects
textures: up close shots of different textures such as wood grain, surfaces of Noguchi’s stone sculptures, strings, plants, cascading water, distorted reflection
foreground: up close shot of a flickering flame, juice oozing from bulgogi grilling, a koi fish sticking its face out amidst water ripples, rotating light around a taxidermy lizard, reflective material test with LED strip, distorted reflections from the metal lining inside the G train
middle-ground: scenes with people in the foreground from the streets of Bangkok, a plane wing descending into the clouds, a precarious maneuvering of 4x8 ply from a crane, scenes from art installations.

My footage bank can be accessed here.

After having compiled the footage, I realize there are some recurring subjects that I am interested in:
- distorted reflections of physical surroundings
- moving source of light that illuminates objects from different angles but does not reveal the entirety of the object at any given moment, leaving the viewer to piece together the image in their own minds
- juxtaposition of different textures (smooth vs rough/noisy)
- weird closeups
