Originally intended to be a physical installation that was a continued iteration of the Shadow Wall, the Shadow Network is a networked audio-visual software for performers to connect over the virtual space in response to the global pandemic and times of isolation. Remote performers connect via a virtual private network and meet in the shadow space. Each person is assigned an instrument and based on how they position themselves on the screen, size themselves, do special movements and overlap with others, the timbre, sequencing, timing, and sound effects would vary. The intention of this project was to create a tool for exploring music-making through movement remotely without losing the intimacy felt when dancing in a physical space together.
